Cartridge is the joint effort of Chris Jeffery (writing this) and Alexandria Nassopolous, also known as Lex. I handle the art, and she handles the writing.
She used to, but I'm by far the more talkative one between the two of us, so eventually she just started leaving the talking to me. She may be the quiet half of the team, but she puts just as much work into making these comics as I do.
That really depends entirely on what you consider to be a video game comic. Cartridge is the story of three friends whose nerdy interests lead them into strange situations. Since the main characters are nerds, video games are mentioned from time to time, as well as comic books, movies, action figures, collectibles, things like that. So yes, video games are included among this comic's topics, but no, this is not a comic about video games.
Before Cartridge, Lex and I did a comic for about two and a half years called Cartridge Comics. It started out as a parody strip, poking fun at various pop culture icons, both modern and nastalgic. However, over time we developed running characters, who appeared in the strip more and more frequently, until we finally decided to make them the main focus of the strip. From that point on, it was a constant struggle to please readers of the older strips while attempting to develop the new characters. Eventually it burned us out, and we ended the comic. Some of the archives of that strip are still available for viewing
here. We took a few months off, and eventually started up Cartridge. With Cartridge, we're able to focus on plot, rather than gags, and our characters, rather than pop culture.
Because I'm an ameteur who is just learning as I go along. If I learn a new way of doing something that I think looks better, I change the art. I know that's kind of jarring to readers, but the main purpose of this strip is to help us get better at making comics and have fun doing it. Lex and I have some other comics in the works that are extremely different from Cartridge, but we've decided not to start them until we're confident we have the skills to handle the job.
No. If you want traffic for your own comic, feel free to plug it in the appropriate section of our forum. Sorry to be so blunt, but we get tons of emails from comics asking for link exchanges, and the vast majority of them are not only horrible, but usually wind up coming to an end within a few weeks. Of course, if you really want a link, you could make us a guest comic or some guest art, and we'll be glad to feature it on the site, along with a link to your homepage.
